Click button for 5 Day Weather Forecast for Penrhyncoch from BBC Weather: The club was formed as recently as 1965 following a meeting in the old school. Initially Penrhyncoch played in the Aberystwyth and district league. Between 1965 ands 1982 the league championship was won five times and runners up six times. The club settled to play their matched at Cae Baker in 1975 and in 1981 the clubhouse was built and opened by Welsh team manager Mike England. In 1982 Penrhyncoch became founder members of the Central Wales league division two. New changing rooms were built and the following year promotion was gained to the first division. Following the construction of a new stand and barriers, Penrhyncoch became founder members of the Cymru Alliance league in 1990 as the pyramid began to take shape. The first season was a disappointment as the new and unexpected high standard took its toll. However in 1992 Penrhyncoch were ninth out of sixteen clubs and then following season were one place better, although be it in a smaller league of fifteen clubs. The best finish in the Cymru Alliance came in 1998 with a sixth place finish. However, the decision came to take voluntary relegation to the Mid Wales league due to financial constraints and travelling to North Wales. That season also saw a major landmark as the club with the help of local people erected floodlights as other improvements were made to the ground. Penrhyncoch were very competitive at Mid Wales level and their return to the second tier of Welsh football was inevitable. During the spring of 2004 the decision was taken to accept promotion back to the Cymru Alliance and to enter a joint venture with Aberystwyth Town FC of the Welsh Premier league. The agreement would benefit both clubs as Penrhyncoch were able to play Aberystwyth players who were out of the first team. At the start of the 2004/05 season Penrhyncoch once again took their place in the Cymru Alliance and quickly made a good impression at the new level. However, form was always inconsistent at best and in the end the team saw a battle against an immediate return to the Mid Wales League due to too many draws. In the end the team put on a good run and finished in a respectable fourteenth position with a place in the league cup final for the second time in the clubs history, but unfortunately silver ware was not to be as Penrhyncoch lost narrowly to Bala Town in an evenly fought Final at Buckley Town. This season again we hope to continue the same policy with heavy emphasis on local promising youngsters within the area being given a chance to play at a higher level with the hope of a higher league position and a glimmer of silver for the Cae Baker trophy cabinet.
