Click button for 5 Day Weather Forecast for Wrexham from BBC Weather:
In 1966, a group of
Wrexham solicitors began playing friendly fixtures, largely for social purposes.
It was because of their teams origin they opted to call themselves LEX which is
Latin for law. They eventually opted to move into competitive football and soon
joined the Welsh National League. For a relatively new club Lex XI have had a successful history which began in 1975 with a Welsh National League Division Two cup victory. Further success followed in 1984 when the club won both the National League Division Two and League Cup, repeating the feat in the Premier Division in 1985. Lex XI have led a nomadic existence playing home fixtures as far a field as Overton on Dee, Rhosnesni in Wrexham, the Brick Field and then Ty Gwyn. Finally, the club bought Wrexham's Stansty Park training ground off the towns Mold Road roundabout.
In the 1990’s the club
moved into the newly formed Cymru Alliance under the stewardship of Gareth
Powell and his well groomed side won the league cup in 1991 and 1992. The 1991
success was matched with winning the NEWFA Challenge and President's Cups. Gareth left the club for pastures new to mange Cefn Druids in the League of Wales. He left the team in the capable hands of Russ Edwards who was ably assisted by ex-Wrexham favourite Nigel Beaumont who still manages the club today. Add to the star listing Graham Jones and Alex Lucas and LEX XI have been so fortunate to have had such a talented and gifted set of managers.
The ground, which was formerly the training ground of Wrexham AFC, is situated close to the Junction of the A483 and A541 at the Mold Road roundabout. The ground is best approached from the A483. Take the slip road off onto the roundabout and then take Summerhill Road, which is the exit immediately prior to the A541/Mold Road. It is signposted Summerhill. The entrance to Stansty Park is around 400 yards along on the right.
