After a gap that was rapidly
approaching three months since our last game at this level,
the Reserves hit top form with a fine 4-1 success over
Tranmere Rovers on a snowy Cammell Laird FC pitch.
The scoring was opening early
on by Nathan Fairhurst, who hit a long-range volley from
fully 30-yards that deceived Rovers' keeper Joe Collister.
Right on the stroke of half
time, Matty Wolfenden doubled our advantage from close
range. The striker initially setting up Fairhurst for a
shot, which the keeper parried, but Wolfy was quickly on the
rebound to score.............................................More
The away trip to Guilsfield is one
that off the field you look forward to each year. It is a
straightforward run south from Buckley down the A483 and always
seems to accompanied by sunny weather for our visit to this small
rural village in its picturesque setting (despite foul foggy weather
in-between).
Year on year in this small club that sits just to the north
of Welshpool in mid Wales seems to develop that little bit more
each year. Since the club was able to make use of the newly
built community facility, they have not rested on their laurels.
A small but keen committee have developed the ground. They have
plenty of room for future development and it does not take much
imagination to picture what this facility could become.
This season has seen the addition, at pitch side, of a
portacabin to provide refreshment..............More
In this week's match preview
Gareth Thomas said, "Firstly, can I say a big thank you from all
the management team and players to the committee and supporters
who worked tirelessly last Saturday morning to get our home game
on against Penrhyncoch. I couldn't believe me eyes when I rolled
up at the ground around 11:45am to see the pitch covered in snow
and the area around the changing rooms frozen. It was a superb
effort by everyone concerned and I'm glad the lads got the 3
points to make it a worthwhile exercise.".....More
Buckley Town staged a dramatic
late recovery to come from behind against Penrhyncoch -
extending their winning running to five games and their unbeaten
run to 12.
On a cold afternoon two of the
Cymru Alliance’s in-form sides met on a Globe Way pitch dusted
with snow for what proved to be a closely..............More
There have been a few changes this week within the
reserves firstly the bad news is that Joey Makaruk broke his foot
last week in the Welsh Youth cup defeat to Llandudno ( 0 - 2) Joey
will miss the rest of the season.
We have also lost Asa Hamilton who is going to try
his hand with Lex X1 first team and Daniel Moore who has moved to
Mold Alex and made his debut for his new team last Wednesday in
Mold's 1- 0 win at Llandudno we wish them both well with their new
teams.
These changes will give our other squad players a
chance to make a claim and with several players cup tied we have not
got many......................More

Buckley started well and put
Brymbo under pressure with some tidy passing on the very wet
surface.
On 8 minutes Chris Hepworth
played a good pass into Mathew Connah who held the ball up and
played it beyond the full back to Mark Thomas. Thomas raced to
the bye line and pulled the ball back only for Mike Cunningham
to miss the target.
Brymbo were struggling in the conditions but on 15 minutes
Buckley had a warning when a long ball caught the defence off
guard. Fortunately Declan Friel got back to make the tackle....................More
